Maria Poranski holds a BS in Special Education and a MA in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Supervision. She worked as a special education teacher in the public-school system for over thirty years. In this capacity, she garnered extensive experience in working with children with disabilities and their families. Maria worked in both special education and general education classrooms, and is proficient in the K-5 curriculum. Known for being student focused, Maria strongly advocated for the needs of all students and for inclusiveness. In recent years, Maria held a special education compliance position through which she developed substantial knowledge in special education law and regulations. She completed special education advocacy training, further developing her expertise.
Maria holds a current VA Postgraduate Professional License. She is a member of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates and is listed in the Wrightslaw Yellow Pages for Kids. Maria is active in the running community, both as a participant and volunteer.
